EMS study shows funding challenges, need for change in Southwestern Butler County

Cranberry Township and 10 neighboring municipalities partnered on a yearlong study to address long-term EMS sustainability in southwestern Butler County as expenses raise faster than revenue. Released in late 2025, the report outlines key recommendations including shared governance, consistent funding, and improved communication to support emergency medical services.

Matt Nickl, Executive Director of CTEMS, emphasized the need for an assessment of why CTEMS and other EMS organizations need funding.

The report also shows that traditional funding methods do not cover the full cost of 24/7 emergency readiness.
